With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Access SATA hard drive via USB adapter

I'm trying to access data on a SATA notebook hard drive that I took out of my Toshiba Tecra M9 PC before I send it to Toshiba for repair. The notebook had Windows Vista Business installed on it. (FYI: The video card on the Mobo evidently died, and the Mobo will need to be replaced.).  I'm using a SATA USB adapter to connect to my Windows XP Pro desktop PC.  The SATA adapter is powered via AC.

The HD is visible in Device Manager, but it is not visible in Disk Management or My Computer.  What I can I do to make this HD visible and access the data?
