As nobus mentioned you cannot fix most hardware problems using software approach. But you can diagnose them using UBCD. This is collection of most tools in one CD.
Also you can use separately tools for HDD test such as HDD vendor made tools like Seatool or IBM fitness test. Look always for one at your hard drive vendor official web page.
If you want to check the memory then use Memtest86 tool which one of the best in this sphere for RAM.
