The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

I/O conflict intalling external USB drive

Asked by Fermanl in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Hardware, Computer Hard Drives

A few months ago I got this 1 Tera (2X500) external drive from Iomega - https://iomega-eu-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomega_eu_en.cfg/php/enduser/warranty_validator.php?p_sid=nfuvIXKj&p_lva=18092&p_li=&p_sp=&p_slvl=18102&prod_lvl1=3&prod_lvl2=&cat_lvl1=&p_prods=3&p_cats=&p_pv=1.3&p_cv=&p_flow=1&p_icf_6=JPAH33C316

The drive has worked good and I have a lot of data in there; but recently it started with problems I suspect stem from overheating and finaly colapsed. I think that the problem is on the box circuitry and that the disks are good. I tried to get an empty similar box but I couldn't find it on the market and Iomega does not provide it either - Iomega would replace my drive for a new one, but that meant to lose all the data.

So I got a box from Conceptronics, installed the disks and software and connected it to my PC. Everything has been detected and installed. 57xx SteelVine Manager (the app that manages the disks) declares everything OK. As for Explorer, at first it didn't even detect the drive and the whole computer was awful sluggish. After a lot of cleanage on my system  Explorer detects the new volume, but when I try to unflod it I get this message 'L:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an I/o device error.'
Can you help me to correct this I/O  problem?

Thank you

Fermanl
