Browse All TopicsI bought a new Dell Dimension 8300 just a few months ago, with Windows XP Home Edition with SP1, and with a 120gb hard drive. Windows and a few other already-installed programs used about 10gb, so I had like 110gb free space when I first got it. Up to now, I have slowly used many GB of HD space, and I only have 36gb remaining now.
However, this 36gb of free space does not seem accurate. According to the C drive, I have used a total of 75gb. I haven't used that much! I noticed the free space go down every once in a while, and I just ignored it because I thought it was because of the stuff I was installing. However, when it started getting really low, I deleted a lot of stuff. I still had quite low space! It's now only 36gb left, and I'm really frustrated. I checked everywhere on my C drive; nothing is really big. I manually counted up the used space in Program Files, and it's only like 30gb. Other folders don't take up too much space, too. Why do I have so low space? I don't think a virus is taking big chunks of space away, because I notice it go down each day, it didn't just suddenly drop. Also, I think the free space sometimes drops for no reason.... I sometimes turn on my computer and the free space was less than last time!
Any ideas?
