Browse All TopicsI have a dual boot computer and when I run Win98 my CDRW works perfectly as both a CD reader and writer. In Windows2000 it fails to write CD-Rs and works very poorly as a reader. Inserting a cd will cause the computer to freeze for up to a minute before displaying the CD contents and transfering data from the CD will be very slow (with many freezes) and will usually lock the machine up before I am done moving files or installing programs from the CD. I can burn CDs from Win98 but it is a drag not being able to install computers without using a networked CD on my wife's computer. The computer is an HP PII-450 with the following IDE setup:
Pri master: 8Gb Hard drive (win98)
Pri slave: 15Gb Hard drive (Win2k)
Sec master: LG 12-8-32 CD-RW
Sec slave: 48x CD
