Ultimate Multi OS Boot system

I need to boot to windowsxp pro and to LINUX

I would like to know what the most "Ultimate" setup would be.
I  have seen Software products like XOSL and something from powerquest,
AND I have seen hardware pci device from LENTEN that is a multi boot device/data restore device.

Conceptually speaking, what is the most exelent setup ?

would it be 3 hard drives ?
the first pri mast. be only the bootloader software  like XOSL
the pris slave. be linux
the sec mast be windows ?

I need the ability to "Re-image" these OS's without affecting the boot loader and other os'es
