The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Veritas and SNAP 4500

Hello All -

Here is my hardware and software setup:

1 Dual Proc Windows NT 4.0 (SP-6a) Server.
Network Teaming over 3 100mbps NIC's  (WHo would have thought?)
1.0GB RAM
A few Harddrives...

SNAP Server 4500 NAS Linux Model 2.x something Linux OS Guardian

Dell Powervault AutoLoader 122T 100/200GB Capacity and 8 Slots

Veritas Backup Software version 9.1

+

Here it is...

The backup exec SW will not access the snap server over the network for anything... All other systems and servers can access the SNAP server w/o issue.

The veritas Sotware after much muddling works fine with the dell autoloader - It access and recgonizes the the autoloader w/o issue.

I dont get why veritas 9.1 will not access the snap server over the network. I have called veritas and am now dealing with there level three tech support - which has been helpful yet unable to resolve the issue.

I sent the user.dmp file from dr. watson to veritas and they ssaid they have never run into this issue before.

We have tried all the easy stuff... and even the hard... yet no resolution...

I cant just undo the network teaming (load balancing) for this system because its a production server... I am aboput to suggest a gigabit NIC.... and dump the teaming entirely... if i have to...

What do you think?

O and... The ARCServe IT Software (ver 7 or 8) seems to support accessing the snap server w/o issue. however it has problems with the tape drive.

Robert

Would there be another way to backup a snap server of this size? the client currently has 220+ GB of Images .tif files to make it even worse.

The client needs this to be backed up to tape....
