The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Hard drive imaging solution needed! Recommendations from experienced users.

Asked by tebacher in Hard Drives & Storage

I'm looking for recommendations for a hard drive imaging software solution for a small company from all of you who have worked with these software systems.

We would like to be able to setup a "default computer" with all the programs installed and configured for each department (like customer service, accounting, technicians, etc...),  then create an image of that PC.  We would then use that image for new computers, or when a hard drive fails.
For example, a user gets a virus that wipes out their system files on their hard drive.  Instead of reinstalling the OS, I'd like to be able to just re-image that computer with the "Default" image.

Requirements:
-Must be able to store the hard drive images to a network drive (a mapped drive or server share would be fine).
-Must be able to restore a large number of computers from 1 image.
-Must be able to have a number of different images.

I'd appreciate any recommendations you have (repeats from what other experts have said are fine, as I'd like to know if there are a lot of people who like one solution).  I would also appreciate any sofware packages that I should NOT use for this, if you have had a bad experience with them.

Thanks in advance for helping me out!  I'll award points to the most thorough experts who can help me find the right software for this situation.Start Free Trial
