Taking out HD - will all data be lost?

Hello, I have a 3.5 inch internal IDE hard drive that I use as an external device - with an external USB case enclosure.  However, this enclosure's USB and power cable is faulty.  I want to buy another better quality external enclosure for this HD, but I heard that if you change enclosures, all the data on the HD will be deleted or not accessable? Is this true? Please confirm this.  How can I retain the data??  Thanks.Start Free Trial
