Browse All TopicsWe're having an odd issue with our EMC and one of our ESX servers. We have 4 ESX servers (and a few other servers) connected to a Cisco MDS that is connected to our SAN. Our ESX servers are in a seperate zone than the other servers. All of our ESX servers can see and access the LUNs on the SAN, but in Navisphere, one of the ESX servers shows up as Unmanaged. This is more an annoyance than a problem since the ESX server can access the SAN, but it is something I would like to understand and fix just in case it is indicative of another problem.
In Navisphere, the host shows up as unmanaged and you can't see any specific details about the host (OS, device IDs, etc.). Also, when you look at the Storage Group we setup for our ESX servers, this server is listed twice with the same IP address.
The navisphere agent is installed on all 4 ESX servers and all are configured identically (which appropriate changes to config files for respective IPs and host names). We setup the agent.id file and the agent.config file. We've configured ESX's firewall to allow inbound and outbound port 6389 for the naviagent.
This was the second ESX server we configured and we haven't had any problems with the first one or the two we've done since so this really makes no sense. I've tried allowing all incoming and outgoing traffic in the firewall, I've tried removing the naviagent and reinstalling it, I've tried removing it from the zone on the MDS and then putting it back. None of this changes the fact that it shows up unmanaged in Navisphere.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Daniel
