Migrating from MS Virtual Server R2 Cluster to VMWare Infrastructure 3 Cluster

Hi Experts,
I have recently had some issues with my MS Virtual Server Host Cluster.  This has prompted us to take a serious look at VMWare Infrastructure 3 (previously called ESX I believe).  I currently have 2 Dell Poweredge 1950s running clustered off an EMC iSCSI SAN.  Both Poweredges run Win Server 2003 Ent and are clustered for high availability.  How can I migrate to VMWare Infrastructure 3 without buying hardware?  I'm thinking of removing one of the servers from the cluster, putting VMware on it, and then migrating the virtual machines one at a time, but will that work?  I think I will need to re-partition the SAN to get the VMware machine on it.  Does anyone here understand what I'm talking about?  Any help would be great!  Thanks Experts!!
