The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Tags: Nero, Burning ROM, 7.0.8.2, HP, DVD Writer, 940d, firmware - 3H23
I have just recently performed a fresh XP SP2 install, all updates have been ran, and I an running nero 7.0.8.2 as my CD/DVD authoring software.  I have a HP DVD Writer 940d and prior to this fresh install my junk was working fine, but now I can't burn CD (thats all I have tried so far and I have 5 coasters now.)  I used to be able to burn all day (well, at least when I wanted to) and now it starts burning, and I would say it get to about 55% and then I get a "Could not perform Fixation" error and its all over but the crying. Originally I tried at 32x which I have done plenty of times before, FAILED, 24x with simulation, FAILED (all with buffer underrun)  My system is a P4 3.0 HT w/ 1gb ram and GBs of free disk space... If I have left anything out, please let me know... checked to see if I have the latest firmware...yep... don't know what else to try...PLEASE HELP, i have read some about this and people want to point fingers at the drive or the media... odd though how I have been burning with the same spindle of CD for months and only after the re-install do I get errors... and the drive worked less than a week ago again, before the reinstall... thanks for you time..sorry about the book, tried to be thorough. attached is the error log
