I have a computer running Windows XP Home Edition. The DVD-RW Drive will read cd's and Dvd's just fine. However, when I put a blank cd or blank DVD in the drive, it will not recognize them. I have tried this with Nero, and with the built in Windows Recording, and neither work. The drive is not dead, as it was working before, and I have tested another drive in the system, and it does the same thing. Also, the system was just recently reformatted, etc, and it was working just fine right after that. However, it went away to a friend's and they installed their programs on the system, (nothing along the lines of Clone CD, or Daemon Tools, or anything like those programs), and then they complained to me that it would not burn. I don't know everything that they installed, and what I installed, I can't remember, but I do know that it was working after ther reformat, and now it is not, and it is definitely software or settings related. There is a recording tab in the properties of the drive, so Windows does recognize that it is a recording drive. I cannot think of anything else to try. Any suggestions?
