I wanted to choose an appropriate raid array for my application. In my application I will be storing 6kb of data every second. i need the data for 6 months, so this works out to 1.5 TB of data.
My vendor is offerring the following raid 5 configs
5 500GB 7.2k sas HDD on the local computer
6 450GB 15k sas hdd on a san
9 300GB 10k SAS HDD on local computer.
The raid controller is speced at 800kbps/second
If my main concern is throughput, with the ability to ensure that I have an availabe disk in case of hdd failure, then what is my best option? How do I calculate throuhput? Is raid 5 my best option?
