Also some of the links that I searched using Google (Down to earth engine):

This link has both free versions and professional version to unformat an NTFS volume.

EugeneShredder is a file wipe utility. With EugeneShredder you can easily wipe sensitive files from your hard disk. EugeneShredder has three security levels. You can use simple file deletion (as in Windows), wipe files with single pass wiping and also use most secure NSA erasure algorithm.

More to come.............
Well in order no to elongate the thread I am pasting the search link:

YEAH!

just wanted to let you know that if you formated then reinstalled windows, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to unformat.  As the physical data on the disk will have bene overwitten.

Correct me if i am wrong.
kmorris1186 - initially that was so, but (depending on version) MS changed to run formats quicker, without saying as much. With their faster quick format (default) the data sectors left alone, so if you really wanted to erase them you need add the /U switch, "unconditional" (wipe-out). So data is left, including directory pointers, about all's you need is to use that to restore the fat
Norton started that unformat trend, so the default ought to be to run Symmantec until someone proves out to be better.
I also say either learn to backup/restore what is important, and be professional about it, or quit pretending some crackerjack crackpot can save your day when you mess up. Be responsible.
98% succes with EasyRecovery Professional. I recovered my hard drive after NFTS format in XP.
