unformat partition fat32 using WinXP

Hi everybody,

I'm new in here and have a big throuble, but maybe easy for you.
I have a 60GB HD and it has 3 partitions:
  C: 20 GB
  D: 20 GB
  E: 19 GB
The first, I use for software and the others I use for personal data.
I was using WinME as OS with FAT32 on C:
So, I instaled a WinXP Pro on C: using Format for NTFS on WinXP menu setup, with a bootable CD.
At first sight, everything was ok. But I couldn´t open anymore my personal files from the others partitions. So my first thought was "FAT32 data and NTFS are incompatible".
So I tryed to use the WinXP CD to format C: back to FAT32 to install WinXP. But it didn't open the format menu on setup at this time.
As I have a  bootable diskette from Win 98, I decided to boot from floppy and format C:.
After type "format C:", I got the real thouble. The partition formated was D. I don't know why.
Then I learned how to format to Fat32 from the CD. Now I am using:
  C: Win XP   FAT32
  D: formated
  E: personal files
After formated, I didn't copy or install anything to partition D. But I lost 100 kb because was created by WinXP 3 directories: "msdownload.tmp",  "Recycled" and "System Volume Information".

What I need to know is what software I can use in WinXP to get my files back from D in this case. And is there any freeware for this? And how do I proceed?
In D were my most important stuff, and I don't have backup of them. Please help.

Thanks.

sometimes a shareware is also good enough for the outlined task.

Some files were missing but it restored the most of my files.
