Windows Unable to Complete Format -USB PenDrive/MP3 player
Hi there,
I have a USB Pendrive/MP3 player, and when I try to
format it I get this error:
"Unable to Complete Format"
and the drive has now become unreadable, it worked fine up until
this morning!
I have tried it on multiple PCs (All XP Pro) all with the same error
any help would be appreciated

Have you tried deleting the partition from the flash drive then recreate and reformat? Do this from Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk management
ASKER
it won't let me delete the partition, I can format but that gives me the same error
it says the file system is RAW
Thanks again

try this utility http://www.mashington.com/File/BSItools.zip
if no success, then try repartitioning using Partition Magic or plug it to a Linux Box and use linux's fdisk

Ian,
Can you please let us know what the vendor says -- If they have a resolution for you, this info would be very helpful to me as I have a similar problem.

Could you please tell me, which software did you use to format the USB flash drive? I am unable to format it too. Thanks.
