Problems with veritas Backup Exec for Windows Servers

Hi,
I'm having problem backing up individual mailboxes and public folders from the tree view.
I get this error "Logon Account " " failed to access "\\SERVER\Microsoft Exchange Mailbox". Access Denied"
I was able to do this before with no problem. I tried to add a new account (administrator) but that did not help either. Any other account dose not work.
If I try to backup the information store or the system state, I don't get that error.
What is going on?
Where can I make sure that the administrator have the right permissions to backup the mailboxes and public folders?

Thanks

First I would make sure that the exchange plug-in for veritas was put it, its the keycode asked for when setting up veritas for the first time, since you said "I was able to do this before" was this a new install?

Next:
Under computer management I would look to make sure that all 6 services of vertias(backupexec) are set to the service account that you have created for that or if you just have a general domain account with high level rights that you use. If needed make sure that vertias (the gui) is shut down and stop all the services, then I would re-enter the username and password for each service and re-start them.

Re-Launch the Veritas GUI and see what happens.

Hope that helps

Thank you. This is not a new install. I was able to backup the mailboxes 2 weeks ago and same for the public folder.
But last night, it did not run and gave an error a0008488 HEX access denied.
and I did change the logon accounts for the 6 services and restarted them but that did not help either.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Are you logging into the PC with the account you are using to run the services with? I have seen this come up a couple of time in the past.

If you are using Ver9.x here is a link to that error code
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/256057.htm

Final Error Code: a0008488 HEX (0xa0008488 HEX)
Final Error Description:  "Access is denied"
Final Error Category:  Security Errors
Error text in job log:

Backup

"Access denied to directory %directory%. Directory %directory% was not found, or could not be accessed. None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backed up."

Restore

- "Access denied to directory %directory. Error writing security data stream"
- "Access denied to file %directory%\%file. Error writing security data stream"

Reason: The user account specified in Backup Exec to back up/restore the resource does not have sufficient rights to back up/restore the resource.
Solution: Verify that the user name has at least "Read" access to the resource being backed up/restored.

Thanks LucF. I tried everyhting that they had in their KB and nothing worked. I did not see that one before and now it works like a charm.
Thanks
You're welcome.

At least now you can have a good night of sleep knowing your backups are running smoothly ;-)
I'd a same problem, but i don't know that what mean
"the name of the mailbox that belongs to the Backup Exec Service Account as the user name"
I'm so foolish, sorry and thanks for help.
