Deleted Raid 0 Array recovery

I have a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP, Promise MBFasttrak 133 Lite (Raid 0, 2 Drives), Windows 2000 Professional, (NTFS Basic).

I deleted the array from within the MBFasttrak133 Lite BIOS, then removed the 80 pin connector from the motherboard, left the cable connected to the drives, installed a pair of larger drives with a new cable created an array, after which (to cut a long story short) I realised I needed the data from the first array, so I deleted the new array, reinstalled the original drives and created the array.

The drives are recognised and functional but to my disappointment the system would not boot up.  I installed another Windows 2000 system drive to the motherboard's std IDE, booted from that in hope to find the raid drives or at least be able to copy the data.  Windows disk management recognises the drive as unallocated, and asked to have a signature added to the drive.  Can I recover from this dilemma or is it all but over?
