Ghost 9.0 won't recognize either of my SATA drives and thus I can't restore image

My primary SATA hard drive failed a few days ago.  Before it failed, I had installed a second SATA drive that was used solely for storage (no OS installed).  I used Ghost 9.0 (via Norton SystemWorks Premier) to create a .v2i image and now want to restore the image onto the failed drive (following a low level format).  I used the Norton recovery CD to enter System Restore.  Norton found the image but when I got to the screen where I was asked to select which drive I wanted to restore the image on, there were no drives listed.  Thus, Norton didn't recognize either SATA drive.  At this point, I just want to get the image restored on either drive.  What can I do to get Norton to recognize either drive?

FYI, after the primary drive failed, I partitioned the second SATA drive and installed XP on one of the partitions.  When I booted into XP, I saw that Windows recognized both partitions (as drives C and E) AND it recognized my "failed" primary drive (as drive D).  Yet Norton still does not recognize any of these drives or paritions when I run System Restore from the Norton recovery CD.

Unfortunately, I do not have a floppy drive, just two CD/DVD drives.  Does that mean I am out of luck?
That is strange because I have used norton ghost 2003 on sata drives as long as GHOST had the latest updates.  When you bought ghost 9 was there a version of 2003 with it, I heard that they started putting a copy of 2003 in the package with ghost 9. Personally I do not like ghost 9 and use 2003, but thats just me talking it is totally up to you.  Is there a program in ghost 9 like ghost explorer, where you can pull data from the image, if there is at least you can get files you need. There was something I was looking at the otherday that could read ghost images, might have been winternals ERD.
GHOST WITH THE LATESTUPDATES MEANS, going to symantecs website with live update, before creating the ghost boot diskette.

Unfrotuantely, I put myuself in a big hole because I no longer have the Norton SystemWorks CD.  And I no longer have the OS on which I installed SystemWorks, so I can no longer update Ghost and make a boot diskette wich would presumably contain the SATA drivers.  I only have the recovery disk that came with SystemWorks (which I purchased in January 2005) and a CD with the .v2i image.  Are there any other programs I can buy that will allow me to restore the .v2i image or is it proprietary to Norton?  I do have a fresh install of XP on my other SATA drive, but because I don't have the Systemworks CD I can't install it.  Is there anything I can run on my other XP drive that will help me?

Two22 and Onsitez, are you saying I could buy a floppy and then download SATA drivers onto a diskette, and then use the floppy in conjunction with the recovery cd to install the necessary drivers?  (assuming I have the necessary cables).  If so, I will look into this option.

*Live Update* does not update the Recovery Disk CD for Norton Ghost 9.x--so that will not help you.  Ghost 10.x is now out, and it's Reovery Disk may contain newer SATA drivers on its disk.

*are you saying I could buy a floppy and then download SATA drivers onto a diskette, and then use the floppy in conjunction with the recovery cd to install the necessary drivers?*

If needing SATA drivers that are not on the Recovery Disk IS IN FACT THE PROBLEM, and you can download those drivers--or you may have them on a system disk that has your SATA drivers on it, using the floppy during the boot process to add those drivers should allow the Ghost Recovery Environment to *see* the SATA HDD's.

*And I no longer have the OS on which I installed SystemWorks,*

Are you trying to install a Ghost image from a *different system* onto this current system--Ghost may be preventing you from doing that--I'm not sure how Ghost 9.x handles that situation.
I now have a floppy BUT my search of maxtor.com has not turned up any drivers.  I've gone to some driver sites and also have not turned up anything.  Do I need specific drivers for Windows PE?  Any ideas on where I can find them?  I have a Maxtor MaxLine Plus II 250GB SATA/150.
two22, to answer your question:  no , I am not trying to install the image onto a different system.  When I said I no longer had the OS on which I installed Systemworks, I meant that the partition that contained the OS & Systemworks had crashed and had to be reformatted.  I am trying to install the image onto the same partition from which the image was created.  I created the image at the beginning of this year, just after installing Systemworks.

The drivers are for the SATA *controller* that the HDD's are hooked up to--not for the HDD's themselves.

Is the SATA controller integrated on the motherboard?--then the drivers come from the motherboard's website/system disk if you have it.

If the SATA controller is a add-on card, then the drivers come from the add-on card site.

I thought for a moment that my ERD from winternals could explore a ghost image, it does not.   I guess there are files you want to get off of the image cd and are not concerned with actually doing a complete recovery ?  Do you still have ghost 9 ?
Ghost 2003 has an explorer that can extract files and folders, does ghost 9
Thanks to all.  I was able to download the SATA drivers onto a floppy and, using F6, get Ghost to recognize my hard drives.  Unfortunately, I have run into another major problem which is beyond the scope of this thread.  The problem is that my second SATA drive, on which I was planning to restore the image, can not be accessed from the Recovery CD.  Thanks to the F6 fix, it is recognized by Norton Disk Doctor, but when I click on the drive I get an error message saying the disk's security settings are preventing me from accessing the disk.  I am going to play around with it but may end up posting a new thread if I don't get anywhere.  Again, thank you for the help.
