The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Costs of blank single layer Blue Ray write-once disks.

Asked by RQuadling in Removable Backup Media, DVD Players & Recorders

Hi.

I'm used to buying 100 blank DVD-Rs for around not a lot.

e.g.  Datawrite Titanium Branded 16x DVD-R (Pack of 50) £3.99 + VAT + P&P (Say around $10).

For one of the archives I make, I'm making a DVD every 15 or so days (ultrasonic scans of new tyres).

As production of the scans increase, I'm needing to make disks more frequently.

So, got myself an LG http://www.lge.com/uk/it-products/dvd-and-blu-ray-drives/LG-blu-ray-recorders-GGWH20L.jsp

Interestingly, no sign of dual layer BD writing, but I believe that is always available for modern BD writers.

Anyway, the cost I've seen of the single layer disks is considerably higher per gigabyte per disk.

For the DVD (£3.99 / (4.7GB * 50disks)) = £0.0170 per gigabyte (excluding VAT/tax and P&P).
For the single layer BlueRay (£3.21 / 25) = £0.1284 per gigabyte - 7.5 times more expensive.

And the quantity I can buy is single disks or a pack of 10 re-writables.

So, what is the normal price per gb for single layer bluerays.

Any good UK suppliers.

Regards,

Richard Quadling.
