since you tried another one, i suppose your system is the cause.
to confirm, test the iomega on another PC
if it turns out to be the server, you can use another usb port, and cable.
or run sfc /scannow from the run box

Browse All Topicsi have a Windows 2003 standard server with an internal 35 gb iomega Rev drive. it was working fine for about a year until maybe 2 months ago when our backup software Genie-soft started to report errors. The rev drive could not be accessed by Genie-soft. when i open MY computer i noticed that the drive was showing 0 bytes for free space. the backup job only takes 3gb of space. I can view the files in the disk and can copy them but i cannot manually copy a file into the rev drive disk. it gives me (file in this cd-rom are read-only).
When i install the rev drive software again and reboot, it works for about a day or 2 and then starts with the error again.
i have tried the following:
- find the latest update for rev drive
-ran the rev drive diagnostic tool
-re-install backup software
-change the rev drive with a new one
-tried different disks and re-formatted them
thanks

I took the advice from rindi and i started a chat with Iomega support.
he suggested that we try another Rev drive connection, either usb, SATA or atapi. The link below will show that with Genie-soft (the backup software we use) the scsi rev drive is not compatible.
https://iomega-na-en.custh
I will be replacing the REV drive today or tomorrow and will let you know if it works.
thank you
it has been 2 days since they replaced the rev drive with a new rev drive but with an Atapi connector and we have not had any issues.
i will add that originally when i spoke with Iomega we both thought that the rev drive was scsi because that is what the diagnostic tool from iomega said it was. when the Atapi rev drive was installed the tech mentioned to me that the rev drive he took out was a Sata connector. I ran the diagnostic tool again and it now correctly shows the rev drive with an Atapi connector.
so it probably could mean that the SATA interface is bad on the mother board.
thank you

Check with the support options from Iomega. They used to have something like an online chat, and I'm sure they still have that. It may be necessary to do firmware upgrade for the REV, and if that is the case, you usually only get those updates via a chat, as they can't be found otherwise on their site for download.
