Backup and restore of the boot/system partition

Tags: Microsoft, Windows, 2000 SBS, Dell, PowerEdge, 2600
Hello,

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2600 that currently has a 36GB drive holding the system (same as boot) partition for Windows 2000 SBS. I need to replace the drive with a 146 GB drive. I am looking for suggestions on the steps involved with creating a backup (I don't have a tape drive nor any specialised backup software) of the entire drive and then restoring to the new 146 GB drive.

I see the built-in backup utility would allow the system state data and the system files to be backed up. If I use this utility to create the backup to an external drive, do I need to install Windows 2000 SBS on the new drive and boot into it to restore?

Thanks,
venkat
