Asked by MPCU in Backup & Restore Software, Removable Backup Media
I have a customer who's backups have been failing recently. The odd thing about it is that from the logs, and everything else we can see, it looks like the drive/software simply think that the tape is full. He comes in to find the tape ejected and the software waiting for another tape to be inserted.
The part that doesn't fit with that being the cause is that this same backup job was approximately 584GB a month ago and was completing successfully. Now the job is just 330-360GB and acts like it's filling up tapes. The customer has run a cleaning tape through the drive and has tried using multiple new tapes as well.
OS: Windows Small Business Server 2003
Backup Software: CA Brightstor ARCServe
Tape Drive: HP Storageworks Ultrim 920
Tapes: Ultrim 800GB
