RAID 5 degraded disk - Server partitions unavailable

Asked by brett_apfc in Storage Technology, Computer Hard Drives, Computer Servers

We have a RAID 5 array on a file server that is currently in an error state.  The array shows 'degraded'.  Disk 2 showed up as 'failed'.  I started a diagnostic on the array (which has not completed yet) and during the diagnostic Disk 2 status changed to 'degraded'.  I'm curious what my next step once the current diag has completed should be?  I have options on Disk 2 for either 'remove orphan\dead disk segments' of 'diagnostic'.

any help would be much appreciated.Start Free Trial
