Initializing Storage Processors

We have two EMC Clariion Storage Sytems one is a CX300 with a RS232 Console port and on is a CX500 with a RJ45 Console port.

I don't know the current configuration and want to reinitialise the system. Butt the problem is when a connect a laptop to the Console port and try to setup a connection a always get the error message "777 - The connection attempt failed because the modem on the remote computer is out of order."

I tried like every connection setting i could think of and as far as i know every null modem cable that exist.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Did the previous owner diable the console port and if so can i reset the system to factory default. I removed a SP board and saw a reset jumper, didn't have the guts to do that.

Any info is welcome

Try this
connect to a Storage Processor via serial cable. Create a PPP session on your laptop, 115200K, 8, none, 1, this computer is the guest. Set the username and password to clariion, clariion!, then go to http://19.168.1.1/setup. Scroll down to find "Reset Domain Security" and reset it. Disconnect the PPP session and serial cable, open a web browser and point it to http://<IP address of SPA> (don't muck about in here! You can break the array if you don't know what you're doing). You'll be asked if you want to configure domain security, respond yes, then if a dialogue opens asking you to select the domain master, select the IP address of SPA, You'll then be able to set the administrator username and password (write it down!!). Note that you need physical access to the CLARiiON to perform this update. There is no 'backdoor' username and password available. The password your referring to above may be for Engineering mode - but this requires you to be logged in to Navisphere already.

The process to reset domain security is completely non-disruptive - it won't affect host I/O at all, but if you're not comfortable following the procedure, contact EMC Support.

This is what i'm trying to do butt my problem is that i can't seem to create the PPP session. Always get that error 777
which app are you using to create a PPP session?
Windows XP Networking, Add new network, setup advanced connection, connect directly to another computer, etc.

Used this document:
http://bbs.doit.com.cn/attachment.php?aid=3679
Try using
Start | All Programs | Accessories | Communications | HyperTerminal with the following settings 115200K, 8, none, 1
see if that works

Well all LED are giving me the status that everything is ok with the hardware butt still can't seem to connect to de SP of the CX500 i have made some progress though because the CX300 is up and running now. So this get me thinking that the cable i'm using to connect to the CX500 has the wrong wiring. I can't seem to find the orignal one so: Does someone know the wiring diagram for the CX500 this is an DB9 to RJ45 cable How are the pins connected to eachother?

Thanks
It's not the same as a Cisco console cable...
