raid 1+0 actual functions in a MSA500 and MSA1000

I would like to clarify how the raid 1+0 actual functions in a HP MSA500 and MSA1000,  especially when reading and writing.
My question is:
If I have 8 physical disks setup with Raid 1+0, does the write occur from all 8 disks or only 4?
Similarly, does the array stripe than mirror or the other way, when writing.
