Browse All TopicsI am currently in the planning stages for a second tier storage solution. Currently, the company uses a Dell EMC CX300 SAN device. They would like to archive the older files and documents to make room on the CX300. I am looking for some recommendations for the following:
Hardware: NAS device.
Software: Data archiving/de-duplication software.
Ultimately, I would like to archive the older files, but still have them readily accessible if needed.

You could simply add a shelf of 750GB or 1TB ATA disk to the existing CX300 (you will most likely need a FLARE code upgrade which is included in yourt EMC maintenance contract) and use something like Symantec's Enterprise Vault File System Archiving to move data to the secondary tier of storage. Other options are EMC SourceOne, CommVault Galaxy, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager HSM, Quantum StorNext, Zantaz... the list goes on...
