Question

Looking for some ESX guidance...

I have an integrated NS20/ CX3 with FC 15k disks.  From Virtual Center 3.5 I migrated a 335GB VM from one datastore to another.  Its been 3 hours and its 58% completed.  WOW...should this be taking this long and how would I begin to troubleshoot if not?  Not a trained ESX SAN person, would appreciate any hints on where to start investigating.

The graphs are not always accurate but it does take some time to migrate datastores, even on FC drives.  Since the host is doing the read and the writes it has to do all the processing for both functions.  Usually get about 1GB-2GB per minute

If I use cold migrate I'm usually seeing 80-120GB per hour (depending on infrastructure), but with converter I only get 30-40GB.

These things are capped in order not to overload the ESX servers involved as they should be doing their normal duties unaffectedly.

I transferred a 220GB server from on SAN volume to another using the Storage vMotion option over the weekend. Our SAN is FC and everything is gigabit. It took over 2.5 hours. I guess you just need to let it finish.

I moved 332GB in 245 minutes...from what you are saying I am seeing expected results.  Thats really what I needed to know.  
I just split up the points evenly.  You guys have been a great help.  Thanks for the validation!
