Hi, on SPA and SPB I see only RJ11 (from SPA/B to SPS) and another RJ11 from SPS to serial port. I don't find any other port...
Thanks

Browse All TopicsHi,
I need to connect in serial mode to my Unisys / Clariion OSR6700, but this storage uses a dedicated serial cable (DB9 pin to RJ11). Did someone knows this cable wiring scheme ??
Help me please.
Thanks

I've been reviewing some old documentation - each storage processor should have a pair of female DB-9 fibre channel connectors and a pair of serial DB-9 connectors - one for the SPS, the other for the console.
The problem I'm striking is that the array is so old that much of the documentation is no longer available.
What's the problem with the system?
Those comm ports on the SPS are used by engineering - there is nothing useful you can do with them. The other photo you've posted is of an LCC (Link Control Card) - part of an expansion DAE (Disk Array Enclosure). Again, the comm port is used by engineering and there's nothing useful you can do with it.
What are you trying to do? Are you trying to configure the array? Or is there a problem with it?

Good heavens! I'd have thought they were long gone (I'm ex-Unisys).
That's the connection for the Standby Power Supply you've got there. The console connection on that array was a DB-9 and uses a null-modem cable.
The only other console cable used was an RJ45 at the array end and a DB-9 for the computer:
RJ45 DB9
RJ45 DB9F
1 - 8
2 - 6
3 - 5
4 - 2
5 - 3
6 - 1
7 - 4
8 - 7
Shield - Shield
On the RJ45, pins are numbered 8-1 from left to right if you're looking at the plug with the gold fingers facing up and the cable pointing to you (end of plug pointing away from you).
