Question

McAfee GroupShield for Exchange is not currently available

Asked by: spaethg000

I was running McAfee Groupshield 6.02, but the system gave the same message as in my topic question.  I attempted to upgrade to 6.03, but the system told me that I already have a version installed.  I installed version 7, which removed 6.02, and once completed, I still receive the same message.

McAfee GroupShield for Exchange is not currently available. Please try again later.

Very vague message.  Under services, all automatic services are started, except McAfee Alert Manager.  I start it, but it stops soon thereafter.  In checking the event viewer, I see this message:

The McAfee Alert Manager service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 3 time(s).

I do not know if this is related.  My goal is to access Groupshield for Exchange.  It almost loads and I see content, then pops up with the message in my topic question.

Problem resolved.  Uninstalled both McAfee Groupshield and McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise, then reinstalled Groupshield first.  It now allows access.
