You can create custom filters within your web based GMAIL account. Open up an existing SPAM message and
1. Click the drop-down menu next to Reply.
2. Select Filter messages like this.
3. Enter your filter criteria in the appropriate field(s).
You can also filter offending or common spam wording like "Viagra, Free XXX, ..etc). Alternately if your concerned about filtering legitimate mail from people you know simple add them to your Gmail contacts.All google contact automatically bypass any filters.
