Mcafee EPO Access Protection Prevent mass mailing worms blocking port 25 - exchange server 2007

Howdy all,
I am running Mcafee 4.0.0, and the mcafee virus scan on our servers.  Just getting my exchange 2007 up and running by the virus scanner (under access protection) has "Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail" and it blocks port 25.  I have searched everywhere in EPO for this setting but I just cannot find the blooming thing... I can turn off on the scanner but it just gets updated at next poll back to "on".

Please help.

Hiya
You need to modify the Access Protection rule on the server/group of servers for the Common Antivirus Protection Rule : Prevent Mass Mailing worms from sending email

This is available from either the Modify Policies on a single machine or from the Policy Catalogue, but you will need to know the exe causing you headaches, normally available from within the Access Protection log file on the machine

Add the exe to the Server policy, and hey presto, no more issues

Just to confirm you do not need to know the EXE if you are turning of the Access Protection Policy in General. It depends on how granular you want to be with the protection.

Go to Policy Catalogue -> VirusScan Enterprise 8.7 -> Access Protection Policies -> Edit the Policy in Question

Make sure you select Settings for Server and then Choose Anti-Virus Standard Protection.

Uncheck Block for Prevent Mass mailing worms from sending e-mail.

Just a question, but why on earth would you want to turn the feature off ?

It's not Best Practice by any stretch of the imagination......best practice is to exclude the specific processes that you want to allow to send mail, that way if the machine does become infected, it still cannot send out Spam, or replicate itself over SMTP

Thanks for the comments - I am trying to turn it off so I can see if it is that rule that is blocking outgoing mail - I will turn back on and create a exclusion once I have confirmed.
