You can 'add' the new update location from within your McAfee Control Panel.

If you don't tell it where to look, it will error out.

"Edit" the NAIFtp link to see the format you need to use and then 'add' your ftp server\folder path.

ok, from where i can download the SiteSat.xml and catalog.z files. In my ftp server i am haing three files only xxxdat.exe, dat-xxx.zip and update.ini files.

by: younghvPosted on 2008-03-14 at 06:27:06ID: 21125246

Those three should be all you need.
The xDAT file includes the current 'engine'.
the zip file is the TOTAL current DAT file.
The update.ini file compares your current DAT files with the latest and only gives you the 'pieces' of the DAT file that you need to get current.

Hi younghv,

I know how to configure ftp. The problem is when i start the auto update it asking for SiteStat.xml file and displaying this error message "unable to find the valid repository".

In my ftp server i am having that three files as u mention.
1) update.ini
2) 5261xdat.exe
3) dat-5261.zip

The above setup is working fine in Mcafee enterprise edition 4. But it not workin in Mcafee Enterprise 8.5.0i.

The file "SiteStat.xml" contains the sitestatus and the catalog version.  If it is corrupt or doesn't exist you can expect this error. The file is usually found in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\Common Framework. Catalog.z is also located in this directory.

If you can't get these files from another machine, then you can ftp to ftp.nai.com and pull them down.

Hi tuggas,

I copied these two files  Catalog.z and SiteStat.xml  from ftp.nai.com to my local ftp server. Again i started my auto update, now it showing error that SK_det.mcs file not found.

Kindly see the attachment for update log file.

FYI:
I downloaded the full mcafee repository from this url ftp://ftp.nai.com/commonupdater/  and i copied that repository to my local ftp server. Now i can able to update the mcfaee automatically from my local server.

The Size of the Mcafee repository is 178 MB.

Any simple solution to autoupdate mcafee8.5 from local ftp server?
