RPC server is unavailable - Windows Firewall blocking

Asked by naggles in Proxy/Firewall Anti-Virus

Tags: RPC, SQL, HRESULT, Windows Firewall

Hi there

I have helpdesk software called Mouse Tracks which has a computer audit component.  When I run it, some computers are audited but most others give the following error"

The RPC server is unavailable (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)

The database is SQL 2005 Standard.

I've tried adding the SQL TCP port number 1433 in the Windows Firewall exception list, but that doesn't make any difference.  If I turn the firewall off, then the PC is audited.

Anyone has any ideas how I can get past the firewall?

Thanks!
