Question

SAV not updating definitions locally

Asked by: sjniii

The virus definitions on the server are not updating.

On an Xp named NAVserver, I have installed the Symantec System Center, the primary management server with AV Server Rollout, and configured NAVserver as the primary management server with in a server group called JNAV.

I Installed the LiveUpdate Utility on NAVserver and created a shared network folder on the c: drive of NAVserver called SAVupdates

I then used the LiveUpdate Administration Utility to go out to the Symantec Web Site to download the virus definitions files to SAVupdates.  Currently, the definitions and updates are accessible from our network via UNC at \\NAVserver\SAVupdates

On the primary management server, when I open SAV (via the icon in the system tray), I am prompted to enter the Server Group user and password to run SAV on the computer.
When I click on LiveUpdate, the program runs and then returns the message:

“All of the Symantec Products and Components are currently up to date”

This is not true since the date is still showing June 2005 in SAV.

Any ideas on why I can not get the updates from the local share \\NAVserver\SAVupdates

thanks
Stan
