I tried that. It did not work. I got the blue screen again.

Which operating system you are using...if its xp then try with system restore option and also try to uninstall in safe mode option.

Yeah, there's always the good old System Restore to roll back to the day before you tried installing it. That should get rid of it.
If you used System Restore, do it in normal mode, there is no undoing it when done in safe mode and if System restore doesn't work well, then theyre might be a bigger problem.
If they're uninstall procedure doesn't work and nothing works, I would just delete the AVG folder and remove every traces of the program, and used a registry cleaner afterwards.
Though, I've done this in the past with other programs that was hard to uninstall, I've never done it with an antivirus program and I don't know what AVG is like and how hard it is to manually delete all traces.

Try and download the most up to date version, then do a "repair/replace" previous version, > install,
and you should be able to uninstall it successfully afterwards.
