Multiple alerts saying the reporting server agent may be hanging

Tags: Symantec, Antivirus Corporate Edition, 10.1.7.700, Reporting server
We are geting alerts about everey 10 - 20 minuts from Symantec AV stating:

This reporting server agent may be hanging: Log Reader for Events.
Its last run in reporting server time was 2008-05-07 10:09:41 (GMT).
This warning was raised because the last run was more than 30 minutes ago.

I have checked all the agents, and all seem to be running and nothing seems to be hung.

Anyone have any ideas?

Check for any available updates for AV. They would show as running when you check, they are just hung and not able to process requests. You can also try bringing each agent down and restarting them.

I know this started right after we upgraded to 10.1.7.7000 and I don't think there are any updates that are stuck.

Where should I check and what should I look for?

It only gives me the alert that I posted above and all agents appear to be started and working.  And there is nothing in the even log to indicate a problem.

Comrade you may have a bug on your hands here. I am looking high and low, as I am sure you have, and cannot find this symptom being described anywhere. I am looking still, will let you know what I come across.

So basically you're getting the same search results I was getting nothing...

Any recommendations?  We thought about reinstalling the alerting component.

I called Symantec support and they were next to worthless.  At first he was arguing with me that we could not be receiving the alerts every 10 - 20 minutes because the agent was configured to send alerts at 30 minutes, he didn't seem to pickup on the bigger issue of the the fact that the agent was reporting as hanging and showing fine.

Anyways his solution was to reinstall the reporting agent and that seems to have resolved the issue.
