AVGAM is part of the AVG Antivirus and/or security suite.     The process may be conflicting with another antimalware or antispyware app....  What other processes are running?   Have you tried running a hijackthis  and checking processes?

You can also check in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\avg8\Log\avgam.log to see if you get any clues to the root problem....

Actually I found what out what was going on, AVG 8.0 Admin and antivirus software were up to something and it's an AVG issue - not virus. I had posted another question concerning AVG (avgam.exe) utilizing 50% -100% of the processors power on three different PC's on the Domain. When I uninstalled AVG Admin (attempted to uninstall antivirus but failed) on the server and disabled antivirus both issued were resolved. I can now access the internet from the Server and the issues with avgam.exe have been resolved. I have a strongly worded letter sent to AVG - I will post the reply here when I get it. This is the second major issue I've have had with AVG between 2 of the 3 clients that are using it. The ID to the other issue which was the POP3 collecter was hanging is below. This is also an AVG issue, The ID to that issue is listed below also

POP3 Collecter Issue                                 ID: 23955450
avgam.exe 50%-100% processor usage ID: 24036742
Can not access Internet from Server        ID: 24038674

Response from AVG:
---------------------------

Dear Sir/Madam,

thank you for your email.

It seems that AVG is unable to update correctly. Therefore we would like to ask you to perform a force the installation of the new AVG program version on the clients. If you do not have currently the AVG Admin Console set up, running and managing the computers in the network you can perform the repair installation manually on each of the computers as described in the following FAQ:
http://www.avg.com/faq?num=948

Please perform these steps to force remote AVG installation with the latest installation package:

1. Please open the AVGADMIN program -> Information -> About. Check whether your AVGADMIN program version is 8.0.225. If not, kindly download the latest AVGADMIN installation package from http://www.avg.com/download?prd=asn page. Execute it and choose "Repair installation". Please check the AVG installation package version. If it is not the 8.0.229 , kindly download the latest AVG installation package from the page above.
2. Check whether you are logged in with administrator rights. Please note that the domain administrator may be set as local "user" on workstations. The AVG Remote Installation needs to have full access to system drive on each workstation. Check your domain administrator rights on workstations.
3. Execute the AVG Network Installer from:
Start -> Programs -> AVG Remote Administration.
4. Select "Remote network installation" and enable "Advanced mode".
5. Please pay attention to requirements mentioned on the step 1/10.
The remote installation needs mentioned ports opened.
6. Fill in needed values in the step 2/10 (installation package can be downloaded in this step as well).
7. In step 3/10 please select the components you would like to add as explained in the window.
8. In step 4/10 please make sure that "Quit setup if AVG 8.0 is already installed" is not selected. Review or change the settings in step 5/10.
9.1. Check the port used for AVGAGENT communication. If there is AVGAGENT 7.5. running on your workstations and these are protected by password, you need to use different free, open port (6152 for example).
9.2. If you expect troubles in network (slow network, limited connection through VPN...), you can increase number of pings and timeout period. Longer timeout and more pings can of course increase time needed for scanning your network.
10. Select the way how your network will be scanned, possible password for AVGAGENT and let the network installer to scan your network in step 7/10.
11. Scan your network and run remote installation in 8/10 and 9/10.
12. Please wait a proper time. The remote installation needs to copy 60MB package over network, unpack it on workstation and execute the installation. Time for installation can vary from 3 to 15 minutes. You can of course right click to the "Installation in progress" window and "Refresh" it.
13. Push "Save settings" in steps 10/10 and save the network installer settings.

If there is some problem with the installation kindly find and send us this information from:

SERVER
- Send us the saved network installer settings.
- Open the "C:\Documents and settings\All users\Application Data\avg8\Admin Log\Log" folder*. Gather and send us all files from this folder.

STATIONS
- Go to "C:\windows" of the problematic machine. Find and send the AVGAGENT.LOG file to us.
- Search for AVG8INST.LOG and send it to us if it is present on the station.

We will receive the data and contact you back with further information.

* Some folders could be hidden by default Windows settings. It can be changed in:
Start -> Setting" -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab -> Show hidden files and folders.
(The location and names could be a little bit different, depending on the operating system).

In case any issues persist on some of the client machines after the procedure above please do the following (should be performed on the client machine itself):
- Please save the attached "runner.avgdx" file to the affected computer (we recommend saving the file to your desktop).
- Launch the "runner.avgdx" file by double-clicking on its colored icon and the "AVG Diagnostics 8.0" tool will start automatically.
- Enter your e-mail address and a detailed problem description into the appropriate areas.
- Click on the "Diagnose and send results" button.

We will receive the data and contact you back with further information.

Thank you for your cooperation. We appreciate it.

     Best regards,

     Martin Bakardjiev
