Remove firewall of nod32 from control panel.

Browse All TopicsHi,
I'm facing a wired issue here. I just installed ESET Smart Security V4.0.437 (latest build) on a fresh installed Windows XP Professional SP3 OS. I have also changed the firewall's "Filtering mode" into "Automatic mode with exceptions" and created a rule under "Zone and rule setup" allowing port 3389 (which Remote Desktop uses) for both inbound and outbound.
After doing above steps, I tried connecting to that PC from another PC via LAN, but it failed(timeout). So I gone ahead and completely disabled ESET Smart Security's firewall, after that I could successfully connect through Remote Desktop.
Does anyone know what's the problem here? Doesn't the Remote Desktop feature that comes with Windows XP uses port 3389 by default?

Yes, that is correct - 3389 is the default port for RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol).
In the image 2.png it shows the Remote Desktop Line in the firewall rules with two Red Arrows in the action field showing that it has a rule set up denying both incoming and outgoing. Go in and edit the Remote Desktop rule and the action field needs to be changed to allow from what seemingly is set to deny currently, then it should show 2 green arrows when corrected. That is all I can see wrong at this point with what is given. It should work after that.
