preventive measures, DONT download anything saying you need it for rapidshare. Or install anything, tool bar, plugin, addon to access any site. Don't run no files that claim to give free rapidshare access. Whatever you download becareful with the contents. It maybe bundled to execute a dumb program like the one you removed before extracting the main files.
Rapidshare has there own legit upload/download manager, no need to download anything else regarding rapidshare managers on flaky sites.
And of course, never let a noob use your computer and start clicking on every darn thing he sees.

Click Start, run and type in msconfig, hit enter. Click on startup, check for any load references but I think it may hide as winword.exe and nero.bat, if you see those files, uncheck them, click apply and restart
Also to be on the safe side, run your Malwarebytes, update it and run a scan.
And download superantispyware from superantispyware.com. update it and run a scan.
Look in your add/remove program and uninstall anything new and peculiar you didn't install.
