Question

reocurring spyware/virus message

I just recently cleaned a winxp home ed. pc with avg and malwarebytes. it found and cleaned some entries.After booting the pc both of them found a threat that says: c:\windows\system32\loadupgd.jpg. I select to QUARRANTINE on both the scanners and it "looks" like it takes care of it but at random times while browsing internet and after rebooting it pops up again!? I cant get rid of it. What else can i try? thanks.

Go to run->msconfig->startup and uncheck the culprit entry

I reccomend Combofix to clean everything up.
It is a nice quick program to cleanup your machine.

xfreedie: Thanks for the help and combofix DID help my intial problem. The messages are not popping
up anymore BUT after i ran this, i get an error in one of my profiles saying:"YOU HAVE EXCEEDED YOUR PROFILE STORAGE...". This error did come up BEFORE i ran COMBOFIX. Also, i am running WINDOWS XP HOME ED. I've tried somethings on internet pertaining to GROUP POLICY but it is not available. Don't know if it's not available in HOME EDITION or if it got blasted somehow. Can you please help me with this problem? Thanks.

You may need to download and run HiJackThis from
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download
Once you run the utility save the log file.
You can post it for free analysis here or at
www.hijackthis.de
You are primarily looking for items marked with red X's.

You may also want to run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode.
