Have you tried to do Avast Boot Scan? Try that before you use another antivirus to clean the infection.

How do you shutdown AVAST in safe mode?
Brain dead here!
I can't remember how to turn Avast off when in safe mode. The computer has a virus. I want to use Combo Fix to clear it out. BUT each time I run Combo Fix it keeps telling me that I have to shutdown Avast. I don't see Avast running at all!
Suggestions?

You could uninstall it then run combofix or you can get a program call DrWeb Cureit and boot off it to clean out the virus.
