Browse All TopicsGreetings Experts, I just can't believe that I have not read anything more about Symantec out there than what I have experienced. I would have sworn by them before March of this year. We went from SAVCE 10.2 to SEP V12. v12 locked up one server and 3 clients - totally, slowed down the network by 30% minumum, and butt-munched licenses that were NOT in use. Cleanwipe did NOT clean the HUGE footprint left behind. Symantec confused the licensing issues despite the inhand contracts that were sent. Techs and Engineers were baffled. MARCH 2009 to AUGUST 2009 HELLO!!! So, come to find out, you need to remove ALL savmain files from the registry from v10.2 (even though you uninstalled 10.2), ALL symantec v12 anything from the registry (except 'legacy' anything) for v11 to work. YES v11. Now, v11.0.4014.26 HAS BEEN RECALLED. Where the BLEEP is that? Symantec tech support...and they won't let you install v11 anymore, only v12 - GOOD LUCK. So, what's the question...what are your suggestions for a good ANTI-VIRUS solution that allows a network to function?

Kaspersky Enterprise Edition (http://www.kaspersky.com/ anti- virus _windows_s erver_ente rprise). You can download a 30 day trial. I know there is not one solution that catches 100%, but Kaspersky does a great job. I always recommend a multi-faceted approach - 1) network appliance with A-V support, 2) Enterprise A-V/anti-malware solution, 3) client protection, 4) content restricted websites, and 5) disable autoruns. Optionally, Kaspersky has a version for Microsoft Exchange if you need it.
BTW, I have a couple clients running SEP 11 without any problems, but if you ever have to uninstall Symantec corporate products, it leaves such a mess. Even after using cleanwipe, I have to manually remove stuff.
