How do I fix invalid boot.ini at bios

when my computer starts after the bios before my windows xp started loading I see that "invalid boot.ini booting from C:/windows" but my windows runs properly. The problems I face is I can't repair my windows because then massage pop ups that important file boot.ini missing. Also I can't change my user accounts image. I use latest nod32. So I don't think there any viruses. Can anyone tell how do I fix my boot.ini

Use the windows repair console on the install cd.

Choose recovery mode.

I would recommend you first try going to START/run/type in "msconfig"/go over to boot.ini and click on check all boot paths/click apply and click ok/ reboot and see if the problem persists.

I agree....

Click on start>run and type this in the box, then hit enter:

c:\boot.ini > notepad.exe

When notepad opens and displays the boot.ini file, copy and paste it here so we can see it pls.

and also Click on start>run and type this in the box, then hit enter:c:\boot.ini > notepad.exe
tried this then it says windows can't find c:\boot.ini...
any solutions

Go to the C:/ drive, and make a backup copy of boot.ini if it exists. Then download the attached file into the C:/ drive and rename it from boot.txt to boot.ini (Note: this file is for windows  XP Professional)

Thanks for all the suggestions.Finally I found out that It was some virus that was doing that every time I reboot my boot.ini file gets deleted but I had to installed a fresh copy windows to avoid all problems.
