If you don't have an XP CD then you can't perform the following (which would normally correct this issue). om/kb/9271 77 indows/int ernet-expl orer/ie7/
SFC SCANNOW
XP Repair
I've also resolved similar issues by reinstalling IE. IE is tied tightly to the desktop and when it is corrupted can generate the error you are receiving.
You can reinstall IE by the following method (and this might be your best bet without an OS CD.)
http://support.microsoft.c
You can reinstall IE7 by the following method.
See the area entitled "Get Internet Explorer 7"
http://www.microsoft.com/w
You might also try logging on as a different user and see if the issue remains. If not, then something is corrupt in the profile. You might be able to get around the issue by creating a new user profile and copying over their IE Favorites, My Documents, etc.
