Our old Antivirus server crashed. It was an XP Pro PC with SAV 10.1.
Our new Antivirus server is another XP Pro PC that just had XP Pro freshly installed (SP2).
I installed the Antivirus server on this PC with no errors.
Unfortunately, when I go to a test computer to try to install SAV it won't discover my new Antivirus server.
The old server is not connected to anything. It is dead.
The new server has a new name. I uninstalled SAV from the test PC and tried to re-install it so it can connect to the new server. It will not discover the new server.
I can ping the new server and I can see it in network neighbourhood.
I tried a ClientRemoteInstall from the new server and it seems to work. But in System Center, I never see any computers there.
On the test PC I see SAV is installed but I do NOT see an icon on the taskbar.
In System center:
- if I r-click on my server ( there is only one) and I try to configure LiveUpdate, I get an error: Symantec could not communicate with Antivirus1. LiveUpdate settings cannot be configured at this time.
- If I try to update the definition files I get another error: Symantec Antivirus was unable to start a definition download on the following servers: Antivirus1. Verify thatnthe servers are working correctly. Retry?
I checked in Services and all the Symantec services are "started".
I have uninstalled and re-install the SAV server multiple times but I can not get this working properly.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
