Remove viruses and spyware

Hi experts.  I have a customer's computer here that was riddled with MyWebSearch, Comet and so much other crap.  I ran SuperAntiSpyware, Hijackthis and ComboFix but I still can't seem to get rid of all the crap.  I would really like to be able to get Adobe Flash to install (http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_23240651.html) but once the issue came up about spyware/viruses, the posts slowed way down.

Since this is now more of a spyware, greyware, malware, whateverware and virus issue, I am posting how to proceed.  I appreciate your help.

The computer is a Windows XP Pro w/sp2.  It has all the Windows updates/hotfixes/etc and has AVG Free Edition for now.
