Well, renaming didn't seem to be an issue as the installs went fine AND the programs executed.
But, I tried that anyway. Thanks.
The problem is that the programs are terminated while running.
Renaming the executable .exe file yields the same results:
The program starts, runs then terminates prematurely.
Then, one cannot access the .exe file again until after a reboot and reinstall of the program.

Prior to downloading malwarebytes or combofix you need to save them as a name different than the default. Example: instead of the default MBAM.exe rename and save it as 123.exe (as an example). Do the same for combofix. Once renamed and ran, reboot and attempt your removals.
If this is the Antispyware 2010 or 2009 Malwarebytes should remove it without issue.
