Save vs. Save As

Anyone knows what's the difference between File->Save and File->Save As in Internet Explorer menu bar?
And how to enable the Save button.

Hello alfanhendro =)

Save button is greyed coz the meaning of SAVE means u can save changes to a file,,,,,

but as u cannot do this with a HTML page, so Save is greyed out,,,,,, Save As is available so that u can save a HTML page it other formats also,,,,,,

basically what Save As means,,,,, u can save a Already Saved(normally a read-only) file into other formats, or same format also but with a different name,,,,,,
Save As option is used when we cannot or dont want to save the changes to original file !!!!!

!! GOOD LUCK !!

thanks...

then, when can i use the save button. bcos i tried open other type of files, either locally or from the internet, the save button is always greyed.
it will be always greyed out,,,,,, coz its used to SAVE THE CHNAGES
and when u open a page in internet Explorer, u cannot make changes to it,,, can u ;-)
but why they put the button there in the first place.

sorry, but i just want to know if i can make use of the button, to make my job easier. i'd like my user to open the html page and change some data from there. definitely can work around, but if i can use that willl save lots of time. thanks... :p
Many of the functions in Browsers are there for specific reasons; an example of why something is not available, as noted by SheharyaarSaahil is that the content and/or owner of the file or object OR perhaps your local administrator has set rules against "saving" (perhaps parental controls, etc)....  if you want to see what options "may" exist for the item you're trying to save; try a right-click on the object and see if Save Target as or Save Picture as or Save Object as types of solutions or workarounds may work for you.

Many helpful links about IE 6 and Save vs. Save AS, and the information I posted above as workarounds here:

http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?InCC_hdn=true&Catalog=LCID%3D1033%26CDID%3DEN-US-KB%26PRODLISTSRC%3DON&withinResults=&QuerySource=gASr_Query&Product=ie600&Queryc=save+save+as&Query=save+save+as&KeywordType=ALL&maxResults=150&Titles=false&numDays=&InCC=on

well Internet Explorer is a HTML reader,,, its not a writer.....
writer is MS Frontpage :)

like Acrobat Reader is only a PDF reader,,, it cannot create\edit PDF files,,,,
u will need Acrobat Writer to save changes to a PDF file !!!!

same applies for Internet Explorer !!!!
i understand that "save" means overwrite the current file, while "save as" means create new file.
but in internet explorer does it mean the same thing? or the "save" have a special function.
bcos if it means the same thing, then it should be just being enabled when opening - say it  - my local html files,
or when i change the value of cells from my published excel file ( published with user-interactivity, to a htm file).

i also understand that we use frontpage or notepad or dreamweaver or interdev or something else to edit a webpage,
not using internet explorer.
i understand about "save target as", "save picture as" , "save link as", etc.
i also understand that adminsitrator can change a lot of settings of user computer.

maybe i phrase my question wrongly.
put it this way. i hope could be beter understood.

we have seen the "save as" button always being greyed out probably since the first internet explorer was out.
never once i see it being enabled.
i tried open many files types, e.g. txt, jpg, gif. it is still greyed out.
opening the word doc, or ppt files, or other office docs from the web, it has its own set of menu, apparently just borrowing the window of ie,
but everything else (function, button, etc) is from the ms word, or powerpoint, or excel itself.

then what i want to know is, is there any time at all the "save" button in internet explorer is enabled? when? how?
or is it just happen to be left out there by microsoft programmers,
who since the first version always forget to take the button out, or intentionally put it there to make it looks better, or for any other reason.

sori... a bit stubborn question. but this is what i wanna know. out of few years of curiosity .
thanks a lot for the response, SheharyaarSaahil and astaec.
